InstaEDU Looking Forward: Our Series A Funding

Almost 15 months ago, we introduced InstaEDU to the world in public beta. At that time, I wrote about the limits of traditional tutoring, and how InstaEDU had the potential to give students the ability to get instant, high-quality help — at a fraction of the price of traditional face-to-face tutoring.

We’ve come a tremendous way since May 2012 — we’ve surpassed 3,000 talented tutors, seen rapid growth and been featured on The Today Show, to name a few achievements. Today we’re announcing another milestone: we’ve closed a $4 million round of Series A funding, led by Battery Ventures. The Social+Capital Partnership, who led our seed funding round, participated as well.

Over the past 15 months, we’ve received lots of great feedback from our students and tutors and made hundreds of improvements —  including easy messaging and scheduling, rich tutor profiles, a collaborative coding environment, and a much handier in-lesson technology suit. With your help, we’ve built a site that’s ready for prime time, so today, we’re also launching out of beta.

And it’s going to keep getting better.

As we look to the future, we’re incredibly excited about what’s next; keep an eye out for mobile offerings, a lesson space that’s more flexible for your work style, and even greater availability of tutors to help when you need it most. You can read all the details in our announcement here.
